Frequently asked questions
How does ConceptScroll find my school friends?
When you set up your profile we ask you to pick your school or college from Google Maps. Anyone who picks the same school becomes eligible to appear in your 'Schoolmates' suggestions. We never use your live device location and your address is never shown to other students.
Is my school location kept private?
Yes. We only store the deduplicated school name and the Google Maps place ID — not your home address, phone GPS, or anything tracking your day-to-day location. The school field is used only to suggest classmates and is never shown publicly without your consent.
Can I turn off school-based matching?
Absolutely. There's a toggle in the profile setup and in Privacy Settings called 'Let schoolmates discover me'. Turn it off and you will not appear in anyone's schoolmate suggestions.
What can I do once I connect with a schoolmate?
You can chat, form study groups, share notes, take quizzes together, set common study goals, and track each other's streaks — like a social media built specifically for studying.
Will random strangers be able to message me?
No. Connections work via mutual requests. You always approve who can connect with you, and you can block or remove anyone at any time.
What if my school is not on Google Maps?
You can still type the school name as free text. We will save it as-is and try to match you with anyone who entered the same school name. As more students join from your school, your matches will improve.
